DescriptionThis is a very impressive homebuilt sailboat built by a man who designed and built five airplanes in his lifetime. There is much documentation, too much to list here.
It has a unique keel made of stainless steel that can be retracted like a landing gear on an aircraft. It is equipped with a powerplant Johnson 99.9 cubic inch/115 h.p. at 5000 rpm. She is very stable crusiting at 18 mph or 24.5 mph. Stainless steel propellor; beautiful wood galley with headroom of 6'3" and sleeps six; 119 or 12 volt electrical system. The Blue DolphinII is equipped with hold course tiller lock which is useful to one man sailing. Mr. Johns passed away and the boat is for sell. Documentation is taken from his numerous notes.
